Dear Diary, 818pm.

Another little number pairing.

8:18 PM.

Lately, I keep catching them everywhere.. 11:11, 8:18, little repetitions hiding inside ordinary moments, as if the day keeps leaving tiny breadcrumbs without explaining where they lead.

And then there’s the red blinking reminder in my car: a little figure asking me to buckle up.

So I did.

Maybe that counts as one more message from the universe: pay attention.

I’m on my way to Del Taco now, because Taco Bell and I have officially reached a quiet disagreement. I ate all three of my Supreme Doritos Locos Tacos, so clearly the love was there… but something about that shell just wasn’t fresh. And honestly, if we think about it long enough, it becomes almost philosophical.

Sometimes efficiency comes at the expense of freshness.

You can prepare everything too far in advance. Leave things exposed to the air for too long. Treat every moment exactly the same instead of understanding that some things need to be handled case by case.

And eventually, even something that was supposed to be good loses a little of what made it good in the first place.

Maybe that’s why I’ve been thinking so much about documenting things while they’re still alive.

Not just the milestones that everyone remembers to photograph. Not just the birthdays, the accomplishments, the big announcements.

The quiet things, too.

The strange Tuesday nights.
The coffee that tasted especially good.
The drive that took three extra minutes.
The mood you couldn’t quite explain.
The thought that passed through your head and disappeared before you could name it.

Because sometimes you go looking backward for a moment and realize you didn’t leave yourself enough evidence that you were ever there.

And maybe that is what I’m doing lately; leaving little breadcrumbs for a future version of myself.

Here. This happened.

You felt this.

You were here.

I don’t know what has been in the air lately, honestly. My mood has felt unfamiliar.. a little ragged around the edges, a little moody, a little restless. I haven’t felt quite like this in a while.

Maybe it’s the mental clutter of trying to get through paperwork and documents and all the things that somehow manage to take pieces of my personal time when I never invited them into it.

There is something incredibly strange about having your peace interrupted by things that shouldn’t have needed to exist in the first place.

And sometimes I find myself wondering how easily people can create noise in another person’s life, then leave that person to clean up the echoes.

Meanwhile, the expectation is still to arrive gracefully.

Patiently.

Sophisticatedly.

To be the bigger person.

And I have tried.

I’ve shown up with grace. I’ve tried patience. I’ve tried handling things quietly and properly, believing that if I approached everything with enough maturity, perhaps it would meet me there.

But sometimes grace doesn’t prevent the inconvenience.

Sometimes doing the right thing still takes time.

Sometimes being peaceful doesn’t mean your life stays peaceful.

So for now, I’m preserving my time.

My space.

My little corner of quiet.

For a few hundred hours, perhaps, I am allowed to step slightly outside the noise and simply exist without explaining every thought that crosses my mind.

Maybe I’ll come back with clarity.

Maybe I’ll come back with better words.

Maybe I’ll come back laughing at how strange this little chapter felt.

Or maybe I won’t have an answer at all.

And that’s okay, too.

Because perhaps this isn’t a chapter that needs to be solved.

Perhaps it just needs to be lived.

Tonight, there are tacos waiting for me, a red little reminder telling me to stay buckled, and another pair of numbers glowing quietly on the clock.

8:18.

Two eights.

A small repetition.

A little loop.

A reminder that some things return until we’re finally ready to notice them.

So I’m noticing.

I’m slowing down.

I’m keeping the moments while they’re still fresh.

And for a little while, I’m choosing myself  without needing to make it make sense to anyone else.

I deserve that.

I really do. ♾️✨
